Kappa Sister Pays It Forward

Caity Meehan

Caity Meehan, Miami

Like many Kappas, when Caity Meehan, Miami, graduated and moved to Pennsylvania, she sought a Kappa network. Unfortunately, there wasn’t a Kappa alumnae association in the area. But, she quickly found another way to stay connected: She began advising Zeta Beta Chapter, Lafayette.

“I had some really great advisers, which kick-started my volunteer work for Kappa,” Caity says.

They showed her there was more to Kappa after graduating. Caity says she remembered how much Kappa and her advisers did for her as a collegian and was determined to pay it forward.

As a dedicated volunteer, Caity continues to give her time to our sisterhood. Her dedication doesn’t stop there. She strengthens the future of Kappa by giving to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation annually and by naming the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation as a beneficiary in her estate plans.

Caity admits that, until a few years ago, she never thought about estate planning. It seemed daunting and frankly, creating a will wasn't something on her mind in her late 20s or early 30s.

At the 2018 Convention, Caity learned how easy it is to name Kappa as a beneficiary of her 401(k) and, in turn, joined the Omega Society — Kappa’s planned giving society. She was encouraged by none other than current Fraternity President Mary Pat Rooney, Drake.

As a member, Caity says she’s seen all the good Kappa does for women and their communities. It just made sense to continue supporting Kappa, she says. Caity is especially passionate about the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation’s educational programming and the recent focus on mental health and well-being.

Join Caity in making an impact by including the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation as one of your beneficiaries. Contact Emily Wood-Powell at 614-228-6515 or ewood@kappa.org to get started.
