Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumna Aims to Help Sisters Dream Boldly, Live Fully

For Cathleen Morrow McKinney, Emory, the roots of her loyalty to Kappa Kappa Gamma run deep. As a lifelong devoted volunteer to the organization, she became one of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation’s first donors when it was established in 1990. She’s been committed to giving to the Foundation and strengthening its mission ever since.

During Cathleen’s many years of volunteer experience with Kappa — from serving as Province Director to adviser — she saw firsthand how training and resources impact the success of chapters, house boards, associations and individual members as well.

The roles that house boards fill in building a space for connection and sisterhood to thrive is especially meaningful to Cathleen, having served this area over the years. Through the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, Cathleen has financially sponsored custom training for house boards, allowing volunteers to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of their roles and responsibilities. She, and this training, have helped pave the way for Kappas to succeed and build flourishing communities.

Looking forward, Cathleen wants to ensure Kappa’s mission well into the future. As a way to achieve this goal, she and her husband decided to start giving to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation through their IRA-required minimum distributions now.

Cathleen says she and her husband have always been philanthropic and it made sense to use the funds in this way. Their generosity is unlocking potential in our members and equipping them with the resources to spark positive change.

Join Cathleen in making an impact by giving through your IRA-required minimum distributions or by including the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation as a beneficiary. Contact Emily Wood-Powell at 614-228-6515 or ewood@kappa.org to get started.
