Jane Boldrick

Her $1.9 million gift leaves a legacy.

Jane Boldrick

Jane Seiser Boldrick, Texas, once wrote that she found it fitting to support Kappa Kappa Gamma's Rose McGill Fund. Having joined Kappa in 1924, she was a collegiate member at the same time as Rose McGill, Toronto, the fund's namesake.

But beyond the coincidence of that shared timeline, Jane was moved by the idea of Kappas helping Kappas and she decided to include a final gift to the Foundation in her estate plan. In a letter to the Foundation in 1994, Jane wrote, "I do think it is so splendid to have something like [the Rose McGill Fund] that will help Kappas in need, whether they are young or old … I feel so glad that I will know that I am helping other Kappas when I am no longer here."

Jane invested more than just her treasure in Kappa. She was a founding member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma alumnae association in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, in 1934. "We got about five Kappas together and met for an afternoon tea and Kappa fellowship," she recounted. "We decided to apply for an association charter."

In her final letter to the Foundation, Jane wrote, "Time marches on and I have become older, but I have always been a loyal and faithful member of Kappa Kappa Gamma." Loyal and faithful indeed … and generous as well. Upon Jane's death in 2007, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation received Jane's final gift: $1,976,000 divided evenly between the Rose McGill Fund and the unrestricted educational fund.
