A longtime volunteer gave her time and her treasure.

Wilma Winberg Johnson

After graduating from college, Wilma Winberg Johnson, Massachusetts, learned that Kappa Kappa Gamma would be installing a new chapter at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. She applied for and was accepted to a position that was then known as a Graduate Counselor (today known as Leadership Consultants).

Wilma earned a master's degree in the process and eventually became a key volunteer at the local and national level. "One of my most vivid memories was attending my first Fraternity Council meeting at Headquarters as the Director of Alumnae," she recalled. "I stepped into an area I really knew little about, and yet, with the support of my Kappa sisters, I had the confidence to learn and do my job."

As Wilma and her husband sat down to draw up their estate plan, she was inspired to include a gift to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation. "We wanted to decide in advance where we would like our money to go when we are gone," Wilma said. "It seemed only natural that a percentage of our estate should go to Kappa." Wilma's thoughtful planning will fund a scholarship to be given to Chapter Consultants following in her footsteps.

Encouraging others to consider making a gift to the Foundation, Wilma wrote: "Our Fraternity is so visionary and is on the leading edge of encouraging our members to be leaders. Our organization provides leadership training that helps women lead in their chapters and their local communities. Our members continue to supply friendship, loyalty, trust, and the confidence to take risks and be role models to others. Our leadership programs provide an opportunity to learn organizational skills, to work with a diverse group of people, and to learn how to be a team player. These are skills that last a lifetime. A gift to the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation helps keep Kappa strong far into the future."
